ABSOLUT INDIA

In 2014, Talenthouse hosted a contest for ABSOLUT VODKA. Brief was to design the bottle for a limited edition of ABSOLUT INDIA. They provided us with the artwork template, with area marked in blue to be used for the concept design. It is a 360° artwork, which opened up a lot of creative opportunities. As per ABSOLUT guidelines the bottle would be printed with a machine that has seven stations, so we had only 7 opaque colors to play with. But the material would be clear glass, which was again an opportunity to get creative.

MY CONCEPT:

PANCHRAMYA PAGDI: meaning India's multi-coloured turban. From which the colours flow out like the abundant rivers of our country. From the commoner to the royalty, whether its festival or a wedding, we are always looking for an excuse to celebrate with it lots of joy and revelry. This design captures the essence of a colourful, stylish India, diverse in its culture and rich in its heritage. Along with a contemporary graphic style, I have also used little bit of Warli folk art inspiration to create the stick figures in black. (Warlis are an indigenous tribe of India and used this style to paint inside their huts.)
