Secret7” takes 7 tracks from 7 of the best-known musicians around and presses each one 100 times to 7” vinyl. Then they invite creatives from around the world to interpret the tracks in their own style for every 7”. 700 sleeves are exhibited and sold for £50 apiece. You don’t know who created the sleeve. Or which song it’s for until you have parted with your cash. The secret lies within. This year its in aid of the Refugees.
I chose:
Toast - Koffee
Miles Runs The Voodoo Down - Miles Davis

TOAST - KOFFEE
Toast: The young Koffee’s inspiring words for the youth resonate with me. Esp. with the current scenario in India where much love & peace is needed. Youth today need a hopeful tomorrow. My design depicts Koffee with her characteristic hair in reggae colours and her gratitude towards her talent. The guitar, which she credits as her starting point is metaphorically shaped like a body, from whose belly burns a passion for music. The strings flow out, like a potion, engulfing and taking her music into the universe. The leaves and flowers on the guitar are the natural simplistic beauty and miracle of life. It’s the underlying sentiment of peace, love and much appreciation which brings in Gratitude, the single most powerful source of inspiration that can change your life.

MILES RUNS THE VOODOO DOWN - MILES DAVIS
I have tried to capture the feel of this music. The Miles Davis’ solo trumpet seems possessed. The Snake is considered to be the holders of intuitive knowledge—knowing that which cannot be spoken. And it seems to have cast some kind of a spell, that has consumed him. The black & white lines stretching from the trumpet go down low and rise to high notes depicting the speed and raw energy. The spirit of his music flows freely into the backdrop of the powerful rhythm of fusion. I have used black and white colors with a touch of passionate red to keep the enigma created with such passion as seen in the aggressive solo rendition. The design flows throughout with the bending sound in the mysterious depths of one’s soul. Breaking the genre norms, this one runs the voodoo do down.
THANK YOU
